Fox Gun
The Fox Gun is an assault pistol, and the default weapon the player will first start the game with.
Overview
The Fox Gun is the player's default starting weapon at the start of every run. As such, it is often discarded early on for better weapons. The Fox Gun has the lowest critical ratio of all weapons, and combined with its high spread makes critical shots harder to land and less rewarding. It also has the lowest firerate of all assault weapons, and subsequently the lowest damage per second as well.
However,upon unlocking Smithing TED's cave in the Oasis, the player can upgrade the Fox Gun to Fantastic quality. While this doesn't directly improve the damage of the waepon, it does provide several benifits:
- A range increase of 3 meters and less spread per shot
- +30% damage for the chosen character's secondary ability while equipped
- A +70% damage increase to the first 3 shots from the magazine
- The Sonar Shot altfire, with 2 charges on a fast cooldown
This upgrades the Fox Gun into a powerful utility weapon, capable of marking large clusters of enemies that can then be easily dispatched with the player's other weapon. It also pairs well with players focusing on perk choices centered around their character's secondary ability.
Tips
- If the player plans to use the Fox Gun for longer than the first level, then it's highly recommended to travel to the Oasis to reforge it.

Unique Versions
Fantastic Fox Gun
Upon unlocking Smithing TED's cave, the player can upgrade the three starting weapons. This will reforge the weapon to a unique Fantastic version. Upon being reforged, the Fox Gun will be given the following modifiers. While Chef Paul will still be able to upgrade the weapon, the affixes can no longer be re-rolled.
